Orewa is a true kiwi Beach suburb, where the expanse of golden sand, aquamarine sea & bright blue sky reflect the natural and relaxed vibe of our whole community. Wether you like swimming in the surf, lazing on the beach or walking along the 3km of pristine sand – you will often have much of the beach to yourself.
The Hauraki Gulf is one of the best fishing grounds in the World. Fishing is common from jetties and beaches everywhere and Fishing charters can be arranged from a number of different places along the coast. Enquire at Reception.
Orewa has one of the best & longest walking & cycling tracks in the region, with the 7km Te Ara Tahuna track around the estuary and another walk/cycleway most of the length of Orewa Beach – and right into town.
Set among verdant agricultural land and a thriving artistic community, we have huge weekend Farmers markets for produce and craft markets and fairs in Orewa, Silverdale, Matakana, Puhoi & Kaukapakapa.
Orewa Beach is one of the top surf spots on the Coast and is home to numerous competitions. As well as surf breaks, we also host a lot of kite and wind-surfing whenever the breeze gets up, which is great to watch. Orewa SLSC provide beach patrols and flags for swimmers during the summer months
Snowplanet is New Zealand’s first indoor snow recreation centre providing ski-ing, snowboarding, ‘snowtubing’ and other winter fun all year round. All equipment can be hired and Birthday parties are well catered for.
The sparkling clean mineral waters of Waiwera are world-famous, set in their own valley in Waiwera – in a multi-million dollar complex featuring different pools (of different temperatures!), a great water slide and sales of their own mineral water. Great for the kids.
With over 10 rides ranging from moderate to ‘extreme’ fun, even granny will want to come to Silverdale’s Adventure Park! With no entry or spectator fee, the whole family can come aloing and enjoy the day out – wether they want some real excitement or not!
Gateway to the magnificent Hauraki Gulf, Gulf Harbour is one of Auckland’s newest & largest activity centres, with Country Club, Golf course, Marina, Many restaurants – and access to fishing charters, sailing and cruising.
Goat island is one of New Zealand’s most successful marine reserves – a magical maritime world with fish swimming all around you. Rub noses with Grand‐daddy snapper or simply experience the vast array of colourful marine life. You can dive, snorkel or take a glass bottomed boat and view the marine life without getting wet!
One of the largest islands in the Gulf, Kawau Island has a rich history and features the old Mansion House with Cafe, Walking tracks, Boating Club and Fishing Charters. Accessed by Ferry from Sandspit or from the Gulf Marina .
